Children's Theatre of Western Springs Spotlight: Caroline Anscombe

Get to know the community of Western Springs with our Children's Theatre of Western Springs Spotlight feature.

This week, we meet Caroline Anscombe of La Grange.

Q. Why did you join CTWS?

A. When I was in kindergarten, I went to see "Harriet the Spy" with my family and had a great time. I figured out it would be even more fun to learn how to be on stage and I joined as soon as I could. I have been here ever since.

Q. What made you discover your interest in theater?

A. Some say I was born loud and enthusiastic, both are qualities that are right at home on the stage.

Q. What is your favorite thing about theater?

A. I love summer camp. In "Flat Stanley," I got to play Dr. Dan, a very vocal and confused doctor and the character got quite a few laughs.

Q. At CTWS, do you work on stage, behind the scenes, or both? Name some roles/crews that were your favorite.

A. I have been on the stage as an Oompa Loompa in "Willy Wonka" and the Harlequin Puppet in "Nancy Drew." I also love working behind the scenes. Paint crew for "Peter Pan" was a blast, I still have the pants I spilled paint on! I am looking forward to trying out the lights crew soon.

Q. What is your favorite thing about CTWS?

A. Making amazing friends with new people in other grades and from other schools all interested in being part of this close-knit acting community.

Q. Do you see yourself continuing to act?

A. Yes! I think being involved in the theatre is excellent!

Q. What do you want to be when you grow up?

A. When I grow up (if I grow up), I would like to be a high school teacher and coach.

Q. What is your dream role?

A. Anything, and I mean anything, that includes Chris Evans (aka "Captain America").
