Lyons Township delegates honored at Model UN
Earlier this month, Lyons Township High School earned Best Large Delegation at the St. Ignatius Model United Nations conference. More than 600 students from 27 area high schools participated in the conference.
The conference included 21 committees, ranging from standard general assemblies to intense, crisis-driven political simulations.
The Model United Nations experience brings to life the problems that face the real world and allows participants to represent their assigned country’s position and work toward resolving issues of global importance. Model United Nations is an authentic simulation of the UN General Assembly. A Model UN delegate is a student who assumes the role of an ambassador to the United Nations.
In total, more than 660 students participated in the conference. LTHS sent 40 student-delegates; 26 of them returned with awards.
