Durkin wins in 82nd House

In the Illinois 82nd House District Republican race, incumbent state Rep. Jim Durkin of Western Springs handily defeated challenger Laura Reigle 10,226 to 3,336.

The current assistant minority leader, Durkin has represented the 82nd District since 2006. He also represented the 44th district from 1995 to 2002, and lost a 2002 bid to unseat U.S. Senator Dick Durbin.

A former senior technician at Argonne National Laboratory, Reigle’s only other pursuit of public office was an unsuccessful bid for the Lemont-Bromberek School District 113A Board. She was backed by the Lemont Tea Party.

The 82nd District includes voters in Western Springs and Burr Ridge, as well as Lemont, Willowbrook, Woodridge and Homer Glen.
