Western Springs police blotter for Sept. 11

The following incidents were listed among the official reports of area police departments. Readers are reminded that an arrest does not constitute a finding of guilt. Only a court of law can make that determination.
ALCOHOL
A 15-year-old Western Springs boy was cited at 7:33 p.m. Friday for being intoxicated while at a function at The Corral on the Lyons Township High School South Campus, 4900 S. Willow Springs Road.
BURGLARY
Someone broke the rear passenger window of a locked vehicle parked in a driveway on the 4100 block of Central Avenue around 4:09 a.m. Friday and stole a laptop computer inside.
DRUGS
Matthew S. King, 37, of 4061 Central Ave., Western Springs, was cited at 9:42 a.m. Friday for possession of drug paraphernalia when an item pertaining to drug use was seen in plain sight in his car while he was parked near Hillgrove and Howard avenues.
THEFT
An unlocked bike was reported stolen from a rack outside St. John of the Cross Church, 4920 Caroline Ave., between 10 a.m. and noon Friday. The loss is estimated at $150.
Indian Head Park
LICENSE VIOLATIONS
An officer on patrol on Wolf Road at Ashbrook Lane was checking whether vehicles were properly registered at about 9 a.m. Sept. 10 when he found Jacquelyne Ortiz, 24, of 1225 Meadowcrest Road, LaGrange Park, was driving with a suspended license and without insurance. Her court date is Oct. 19.
Jose Fernandez, 24, of 3234 S. Albany, Chicago, was stopped for driving 87 mph northbound on the Stevenson Expressway at Joliet Road about 3 a.m. Sept. 6. Fernandez was taken to the police station to post a cash bond and was charged with speeding and not having a drivers license with him. The officer asked Fernandez’s passenger if he could drive the two men home. The passenger, Manuel Borrego, 23, of 319 Hunter Ave., Joliet, said he would, but when the officer checked his license he learned Borrego’s license was suspended for driving under the influence. Borrego was charged with unlawful use of a drivers license. Fernandez and Borrego’s court date is Oct. 19. ~.
