Western Springs police blotter for July 16

The following incidents were listed among the official reports of area police departments. Readers are reminded that an arrest does not constitute a finding of guilt. Only a court of law can make that determination.

ALCOHOL
Four teens were cited for
consumption of alcohol by a minor at 11:30 p.m. July 9, after police
observed them throwing away bags of litter on a public parkway near 48th Street and Wolf Road. Cited were two 17-year-old La Grange boys, a 17-year-old Willow Springs boy and Thomas L. Dougherty, 18, of 4824 Johnson Ave., Western Springs.
Three 15-year-old Indian Head Park boys were cited at 10:34 p.m. Saturday for consumption of alcohol by a minor after police observed them walking on a public right of way on the 5500 block of Wolf Road. One boy also was cited for possession of alcohol by a minor.
Three Western Springs teens were cited for consumption of alcohol by a minor at 11:30 p.m. Saturday after police were called to investigate an underage drinking party at a home on the 5400 block of Fair Elms Avenue. Cited were Christian J. Klotz, 19, of 4204 Forest Ave., and Jacob E. Smith, 19, of 3837 Woodland Ave. A 15-year-old Western Springs girl also was cited for possession of alcohol by a minor.
DRUGS
A 17-year-old La Grange boy was cited at 12:11 p.m. Friday for possession of drug paraphernalia at Lyons Township High School, 4900 S. Willow Springs Road. The boy allegedly had a brass pipe used for smoking illegal substances.
A 15-year-old Western Springs boy was cited at 11:10 p.m. July 9 for possession of drug paraphernalia and marijuana after police were called to a minor verbal domestic disturbance at a home on the 4700 block of Wolf Road. A small amount of marijuana and a glass pipe were found.
MOVING VIOLATION
Jadiel Ceballos, 34, of 1836 S. 58th Ave., Cicero, was cited at 10:50 a.m. for driving without a license and failure to signal following a stop on the 3900 block of Wolf Road.
Keshia R. Steele, 25, of 106 Creekside Drive, Bolingbrook, was cited at 7:31 a.m. July 12 for driving on a suspended license and driving without insurance during a stop at Ogden and Gilbert avenues.
Raymond R. Olvera, 25, of 6142 Knollwick Ave., Willowbrook, was cited at 5:03 p.m. Sunday for driving on a revoked license and speeding following a stop at 55th Street and Gilbert Avenue
Indian Head Park
ALCOHOL
The police gave a written warning for possession of alcohol by a minor to the teenage host of an under-age drinking party on the 11100 block of Edgebrook Lane at about 2:40 a.m. July 5. An officer on patrol saw a teenage girl holding a can of beer run away, warning people in the townhouse the cops were there. When the the officer went to the home, he saw beer and talked to an 18-year-old resident who said his parents were not home. The police identified nine people younger than 21 and two juveniles at the party. They were released to the custody of their parents.
DRUGS
Kenneth M. Chin, 22, of 306 N. Malden, Chicago, was arrested at about 2 a.m. July 3 when an officer stopped his vehicle because he was driving without headlights south on Timberview Lane. The officer smelled marijuana. Chin reportedly had a jar with marijuana in it in the center console of the car and an herb grinder in his pocket. Chin was charged with possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia and driving without headlights. His court date is Aug. 6.
MOVING VIOLATION
John D. Richard, 31, of 431 S. 19th Ave., Maywood, was arrested at about 2:45 a.m. July 4 and charged with driving without insurance, with a revoked license and a loud muffler westbound on Joliet Road at
Interstate 55. His court date is Aug. 6.
An officer checking the registration of cars parked in Brookside Plaza found one that was suspended for not having insurance. When a man got in the vehicle and drove away, the officer followed him and stopped the driver, Lamar D. Alexander, 25, of 18681 W. Westwood Place, Gurnee, at Joliet Road and Brainard Avenue at about 2:50 p.m. July 12. Alexander was charged with driving with a revoked license, driving with suspended registration and not having insurance. His court date is Aug. 6.
PROPERTY DAMAGE
A witness reported a large beige sports utility vehicle struck two telephone utility boxes at the north entrance to the Acacia subdivision at Acacia Drive and drove off at 7 p.m. July 7.
THEFT
A woman reported a stove and refrigerator, worth a combined $2,200, were missing from her home on Brairwood Square. The woman told an officer she had a falling out with the person who shared the home with her. The officer accompanied the woman when she went there to retrieve some of her personal belongings at 3:35 p.m. June 29 and discovered the appliances were missing. The officer saw no signs of a break-in.
