Western Springs police blotter for April 30

The following incidents were listed among the official reports of area police departments. Readers are reminded that an arrest does not constitute a finding of guilt. Only a court of law can make that determination.

ALCOHOL

A 17-year-old Riverside boy was cited at 11:37 p.m. April 27 for possession of alcohol by a minor, speeding and violating the graduated driving license law during a stop at Ogden and Woodland avenues. A passenger, Kevin W. Kraus, 19, of 9340 Washington Ave., Brookfield, was cited for possession of alcohol by a minor.

BURGLARY

Someone entered an unlocked landscaping trailer between 8:38 and 8:59 a.m. April 23 and stole equipment valued at $900 while the trailer was parked on the 4500 block of Grand Avenue.

PROPERTY DAMAGE

Someone used black spray paint on the rear brick wall of a vacant commercial building on the 4700 block of Commonwealth Avenue, it was reported at 2:37 p.m. April 25.

The rear window on the driver’s side was reported broken at 10:51 p.m. April 27 on a vehicle parked on the 1000 block of Park Place. The replacement cost is estimated at $250.

Indian Head Park

BURGLARY

Two businesses were burglarized between April 6 and 9 at 7000 Wolf Road, due to a faulty lock on the front door, police said. Street Blimps reported someone pried open a filing cabinet and stole four cameras, as well as a power washer from an adjacent garage. An adjacent business, Diva Tire said equipment and inventory valued at $10,000 was taken.

MOVING VIOLATION

Niko J. Roark, 18, of 2424 Regan Road, Joliet, was cited for driving without a license during a stop on the 6400 block of Joliet Road. A passenger and the car’s owner, a 16-year-old girl from Plainfield, was cited for having a defective headlight and allowing an unauthorized person to drive the car.

Bacilio Alcauter-Garcia, 36, of 5402 S. Kenneth Ave., Chicago, was cited at 5:05 a.m. Friday for speeding and driving without a license following a stop on the 7000 block of Joliet Road.

Mark Ramos II, 25, of 9100 S. 8th Ave., Hickory Hills, was cited for speeding at 5:15 a.m. April 12 at I-55 and Joliet Road. Ramos was taken into custody on an Orland Park warrant for failure to appear in court.

PROPERTY DAMAGE

Someone put red stickers on street signs near Blackhawk Trail and Pontiac Drive, it was reported at 10:10 a.m. April 23.

THEFT

Hub caps were reported stolen at 10:20 a.m. April 25 from a vehicle parked on a driveway on the 11000 block of Arrowhead Trail. The loss is estimated at less than $500.
