Nancy Kolar of Western Springs won the third prize in the Paint DuPage Art Competition sponsored by The DuPage Art League, with her Pen and Ink and watercolor drawing. Entries came from all over the county in all mediums. A reception and award presentation was held on Sunday and Kolar, who was out of town for the weekend, arrived just in time to receive her award.

The competition was open to members and non-members and the original artwork had to be related to DuPage County whether it was a location in the county or based on an event in the county’s history. Kolar’s drawing was a detailed pen and ink of a group of flowers and foliage and was tinted with watercolor.

The DuPage Art League is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to fostering a love for the arts in the community. The league maintains a gallery of original artists work with shows which change every month and a gift gallery filled with prints, jewelry, ceramics and other unique handmade items. The gallery is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 9 a.m. tonoon Saturday. For information call (630) 653-7090.
