Hinsdale Center supports arts programs across Cook and DuPage

For the 15th year, Hinsdale Center for the Arts has awarded grant funds to support arts programs throughout its service region encompassing all of DuPage and western Cook County. The Community Arts Access Program is funded by the Illinois Arts Council with matching funds raised by Hinsdale Center for the Arts.  As the established regional arts institution for the western suburbs of Chicago, HCA grants funds to assist local not-for-profit art, educational, and community organizations in their efforts to develop and present arts programs to their communities.

This year, through the Community Arts Access Program, HCA distributed more than $20,000 to support a variety of visual and performance arts programs with an emphasis on reaching underserved populations and at-risk youth. Programs included offerings in music, dance, theatre, improv, visual arts, and literature. 

Recipients include: Awakenings Project, Journal Project for Artists with Psychiatric Illnesses; Chicago Sinfonietta,  the Nation’s Most Diverse Professional Orchestra, for their West Suburban Season and outreach; Salt Creek Ballet, Literature through Dance School Enrichment Program; Community House for Willowbrook Corners Summer Theatre Camp; CEP Youth Leadership, Watch My Feet Teen Dance and Improv Troupe modeling Positive Behavior and Problem Solving for High School students; Hinsdale Chorale,  Prairie-Inspired Spring Concert; Elmhurst Art Museum Art on the Run Family Drop-In Art Program; Glen Ellyn Public Library, BookFest Meet the Authors; Western DuPage Special Recreation Association, Artists for Adult Drop –In Center; People’s Resource Center, Art Supplies for Art Studio for  Clients; Maywood Fine Arts Center, Ballet for New Audiences Ballet Production.
