Western Springs House Walk returns in May

Updated: April 1, 2013 6:10AM

WESTERN SPRINGS — The Western Springs Historical Society House Walk fundraiser is coming.

The biennial event will be held from 11 am. to 5 p.m. May 19.

Tickets will be available online at http://www.westernspringshistory.org at $30/person before May 19 and $35/person the day of the event. A list of local retailers selling tickets will also be available soon.

Diverse architectural styles will be featured. Six homes will open their doors for the tour including a Victorian, a remodeled 1960’s ranch, a Frank Lloyd Wright inspired home with a modern West Coast vibe, and two homes featuring collections of Americana and European antiques, respectively.

“We’re confident house walk guests will come away from the day with renewed excitement and unique ideas for their own homes,” said Vicki Lezon, event co-chairman. “Our goal is to generate funds for the historical society, while also ensuring an afternoon of inspiration for those in attendance.”

All proceeds from the event benefit the Western Springs Historical Society, an all-volunteer organization dedicated to instilling an appreciation of the village’s history in residents of all ages. Proceeds from the event will fund the society’s operating budget, as well as help develop exhibits for the Ekdahl House and the Tower Museum, and provide programs and archival materials for residents.
