Western Springs crime briefs for Feb. 19

The following incidents were listed among the official reports of the Western Springs and Indian Head Park police departments.

Western Springs

PROPERTY DAMAGE

Someone drove a vehicle into a parkway tree on the 300 block of Burlington Avenue and left the scene without reporting the accident, it was discovered at 4:09 p.m. Feb. 12.

THEFT

A laptop computer was reported stolen at 5:40 p.m. Feb. 15 after the rear window was smashed on an unlocked vehicle parked at Lyons Township High School, 4900 S. Willow Springs Road. The loss, which occurred between 4:30 and 5:40 p.m., is estimated at $1,500.

Indian Head Park

FRAUD

A resident reported Feb. 15 someone without her permission charged $187 worth of goods from Hair Shop in Boca Raton, Fla. to her Chase Visa card. The merchandise was being shipped to an address in Decatur. A telephone number was provided with the order, but when the police called the number, it was disconnected. The resident cancelled the credit card. The police recommended she also advise the credit agencies about the situation.

VANDALISM

A resident reported someone drew a black X about 3 inches high on the drywall next to the entrance to his condominium on the 7200 block of Wolf Road between 1 a.m. and 6 a.m. Feb. 15.~.
