WESTERN SPRINGS — Love was in the air for a family tradition Feb. 10 hosted by the village Recreation Department.
Mothers and son, daddies and daughters looked their best in party attire grooving to the beat for the Little Sweethearts Dance at the Grand Avenue Community Center in advance of Valentine’s Day.
Organizer Rita Ligeikis said the afternoon featured games, activities and dances coordinated by DJ Dalis Santiago, a candy-guessing game, refreshments and photo opportunities with a King and Queen of Hearts backdrop.
“We have a lot of decorations, on the wall and hanging and a lot of helium balloons,” Ligeikis said.
Ligeikis said families look forward to the annual event.
“I’ve been here a little over 12 years, and it’s been running ever since, and a while before that,” she said. “It’s a tradition.”
