INDIAN HEAD PARK — An Indian Head Park man was charged with possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia Nov. 22.
An officer stopped William L. Gess, 28, of 6469 Apache Drive, as he drove into his driveway about 2:25 a.m. because the officer said he did not signal when he turned left from Indian Head Trail onto Apache Drive.
The officer reportedly smelled marijuana and saw a black glass pipe commonly used for smoking marijuana on the center console of the car. He also saw a clear bag with a white powder in it on the car floor. When the officer searched the car, he found a prescription bottle with marijuana in it and plastic bags of marijuana in the glove compartment and trunk. A plastic bag containing mushrooms also was found in the trunk.
Gess was charged with possession of between 10 and 30 grams of marijuana and failure to signal. His court date is Jan. 9. The police sent the white powder and mushrooms to the Illinois Crime Lab for testing.
