Scam costs Indian Head Park resident $350

INDIAN HEAD PARK — A resident of the 7200 block of Wolf Road reported Nov. 21 that a man called her a few days earlier and told her she had won $2 million from Reader’s Digest. The caller identified himself, said he was calling from Lakewood, Colo., and told the resident she should send $350 to receive her winnings to a woman in another town.
The resident sent a cashier’s check for that amount. The check was cashed and the man called back Nov. 21 to ask the resident to send $400 more to the same woman. The resident refused and, realizing it was a scam, went to the Police Department to report the incident.~.
