Western Springs plans events to honor veterans

WESTERN SPRINGS — Western Springs residents have several opportunities to honor honor veterans, beginning Nov. 9.

Lyons Township High School invites veterans to either of two school assemblies Nov. 9 honoring them for military service.

Veterans are asked to arrive a half hour in advance. Assemblies are scheduled at 9:15 a.m. at the south campus, 4900 S. Willow Springs Road in Western Springs and at 1:15 p.m. at the north campus, 100 S. Brainard Ave. in La Grange.

The Western Springs Senior Center is hosting a luncheon to honor area veterans from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Nov. 9 at the Grand Avenue Community Center, 4211 Grand Ave. in Western Springs.

“We’re calling it Let Us Serve You as You Have Served Us,” said organizer Mic Cagney at the senior center.

Veterans are asked to RSVP to (708) 246-3299.

The Western Springs VFW Post 10778 will gather to observe Veterans Day at 11 a.m. Nov. 11 at the Grand Avenue Community Center.
