LA GRANGE — Education was the focus for the 21st Annual Race Unity Rally Sept. 9 at the La Grange Village Hall.

Lyons Township Principal David Franson provided an update on efforts to boost minority student achievement at Lyons Township High School and how fostering cooperation with area feeder schools by sharing student data has helped improve test scores.

The program’s sponsor, the CommUNITY Diversity Group, also recognized the LeaderShop youth development organization with the 2012 Diversity Award. The youth group’s Watch My Feet troupe performed a series of skits and dances focusing on tolerance and other issues teens face.
