RIVERSIDE — Twenty-eight juveniles were charged with underage drinking after police were called to a vacant home where a party was going on with young revellers from a dozen nearby suburbs.
Two village employees contacted police about 10 p.m. Monday when they noticed suspicious activity inside the home in the 100 block of Barrypoint, a house they knew was vacant, Riverside police said.
Officers entered the home and found a large number of juveniles inside drinking.
After being administered portable breath tests, 28 juveniles were cited for possession/consumption of alcohol by a minor, police said. Those charged were from Brookfield, Darien, Elmhurst, Elmwood Park, Hinsdale, La Grange, Lisle, Melrose Park, Oak Park, River Forest, Riverside and Western Springs.
The juveniles were not allowed to drive home, but instead were released to their parents, some of whom made arrangements to pick up vehicles later, police said.
