INDIAN HEAD PARK — Longtime Village Trustee Carol Coleman recently announced her resignation effective July 31 from the Village Board, citing family commitments and responsibilities that she felt affect her ability to fulfill requirements of the office.
Mayor Richard Andrews has announced the appointment of Planning and Zoning Commission Chairman Dennis Schermerhorn to fill the vacancy. The board is scheduled to vote on the appointment at its meeting at 7:30 p.m. Aug. 9 at Indian Head Park Village Hall, 201 Acacia Drive. Schermerhorn has served on the commission since 2002 and has a bachelor’s degree in business and economics from the Illinois Institute of Technology, and a law degree from Chicago-Ken College of Law.
Coleman was first elected a trustee in 1993 and has served as the board liaison for the Public Works and Water departments. Andrews praised her for her focus and clarity.
“Never one to shy away from difficult or controversial issues, Trustee Coleman will be deeply missed by all of us,” Andrews said.
