The home page for the Western Springs Park District’s website appeared to have been hacked by a person going by the name Tiger M@te.

The website was restored to its original state at about 7 p.m. Thursday, May 31.  Before that time, anyone visiting the website would have seen a black screen with spinning words that said “Server Hacked By TIGER-M@TE #Bangladeshi Hacker.”

The hacker also had what seemed like middle eastern propaganda video playing on the website. The video featured images of dead children, women covered in blood and edited scenes from a middle eastern country.

A simple Google search reveals that Tiger-M@te appears to have a reputation for hacking into websites.

Calls to Western Springs Park District Director Craig Himmelmann seeking comment were not returned Friday. It is not known when the website was originally hacked.
