District 101 locks in calendar for 2012-13

The Western Springs Elementary District 101 Board has adopted a working calendar for the 2012-2013 school year with school beginning Aug. 22 and ending June 5, 2013.

Given that the end date is scheduled for a Wednesday, the rest of the week may be used to make up lost class time should classes be canceled during the school year, Superintendent Brian Barnhart said.

Classes will be dismissed this DecemDec.ber 24 through Jan. 4, 2013 for winter break and March 22 through April 1, 2013 for spring break. Barnhart noted both winter and spring breaks were scheduled specifically to complement those of Lyons Township High School.

The district has yet to decide which days to assign as half days and late-arrival days, but will coordinate with LTHS.
