The University of Chicago Cancer Research Foundation Women’s Board held its 45th annual grand auction and gala, Avant Garde, on Nov. 12, at the Four Seasons Hotel, Chicago.
Mirrors, floating candles and sleek white walls welcomed 450 guests to the party, underscoring the innovative, visionary and cutting-edge work conducted on a daily basis at the University of Chicago. The ballroom was transformed into a contemporary oasis complete with spandex-covered mirrored tables.
Proceeds of approximately $750,000 were raised for continued support of cancer research at the University of Chicago Cancer Research Center.
The University of Chicago was founded by John D. Rockefeller 117 years ago and has received 85 Nobel Prizes for the distinguished achievements of its intellectual and research community.
Formed in 1947, the Women’s Board has helped the University of Chicago establish world-class programs in cancer genetics, immunotherapies, pharmacogenomics, bio- and clinical informatics, and other targeted therapies. The group has raised more than $13 million for cancer research.
