Ross and Carissa Bartolomei of La Grange recently hosted a benefit celebration, All Hyped Up for Kovler Kids. The Sept. 18 event celebrated the launch of Kovler for Kids, a pediatric diabetes program at the University of Chicago Kovler Diabetes Center.
More than 250 people turned out at Capri Ristorante in Burr Ridge and raised over $32,000 for the clinical programs and educational services at Kovler.
Grammy winner Jim Peterik from Survivor and local Chicago vocalist Lisa McClowry performed for the crowd. The evening also included dinner, a silent auction and the announcement of the winner of the grand raffle prize, a 2012 Ford Fiesta from Westfield Ford.
The Bartolomeis are the owners of Salon Hype in La Grange and Burr Ridge and their 12-year-old daughter Julia is a longtime patient at Kovler’s.
Established in 2006, the University of Chicago Kovler Diabetes Center provides clinical care, basic and clinical research, community engagement and education. It focuses on delivering leading-edge care and developing innovative treatments and cures for adults, children and teens with diabetes throughout their lifespan.
