Crofton Kelly hosted his 7th annual Tennis Fun Fest on Aug. 18 at the Hinsdale Racquet Club.
With the help of tennis pro Tom Cahill and the Hinsdale Racquet Club, the St. Ignatius sophomore hosted more than 55 kids for an afternoon of tennis drills and games. The event raised $3,000 for Treasure Chest, a pediatric cancer foundation.
Kids were challenged to “Rally for a Cure” by counting how many hits they could get against the pros.
Tennis pros from clubs around the area, including Hinsdale Racquet Club, La Grange Country Club, Western Springs Tennis, and Salt Creek Club, donated their time and came out to lend a hand and volley with the kids. Other activities included raffles, refreshments and prizes, including a new racquet donated by Coach Cahill.
“It’s a really fun event,” said Kelly. “It combines two things I really like — playing tennis and helping people out.”~.
