Engineer Steve Belliveau hopes that children who come to his programs will get excited about science.
“I like having the light bulbs go off in kids’ heads,” he said of his “Getting Excited About Science” program.
Belliveau also plans to convince them that “reading is delicious” from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Monday, June 11, at the Hinsdale Public Library, 20 E. Maple St.
“I’m going to talk about what happens when you eat food and the digestive system,” Belliveau said. “And we’ll be making some simple things that involve salts and acids and other things that we will tie into digestion. We will be freezing things with liquid nitrogen.”
Belliveau will also talk about Columbus’ egg.
“Christopher Columbus was a very witty man and a very smart man,” Belliveau said. “He challenged people to stand an egg upright without tipping [it] over. He had a lot of other challenges using eggs as well. I will redo one of those.”
