Home Depot gives back by helping local nonprofit

This summer, The Home Depot’s associate-led volunteer program, Team Depot, gave back to the community by partnering with Helping Hand Center, a local nonprofit in Countryside serving children and adults with disabilities.
Team Depot spent the day remodeling one of Helping Hand Center’s 11 group homes. They updated the kitchen with new countertops and cabinets, replaced the flooring, and created a new living space for the four people with disabilities who live in the home. The Home Depot also presented Helping Hand Center with a grant for $8,500 and donated store products, supplies and tools.
“I have to say that the amount of dedication from The Home Depot has been tremendous. They have added so many extras to the home remodeling project it has been unbelievable,” said Paul Reno, maintenance supervisor at Helping Hand Center.
“Giving back doesn’t stop there,” said Russell Johnson Cochran, regional associate relations manager. “Our goal is to support area Home Depot Stores in hiring people with disabilities and present employees with disability awareness training.”
