Highlands district names new superintendent

LAGRANGE HIGHLANDS — Highlands Elementary District 106 will have a new superintendent next year.
The School Board last week hired Patricia Sullivan-Viniard as the next superintendent. She will start July 1, replacing Robert Dyer, who is retiring.
Board President Tom Hinshaw said they had several applicants for the position.
“As a result, we were able to focus on finding the candidate that will build on the substantial positive momentum developed under Dr. Dyer’s leadership,” Hinshaw said. “Trish’s extensive experience, particularly in curriculum and instruction, is well suited for our efforts to continuously improve the academic achievement of our students”
Sullivan-Viniard is the assistant superintendent of Quincy Public Schools District 172, where she is engaged in all aspects of administrative leadership for the district that serves 7,200 students. Her career in education spans 30 years and includes work as an elementary and high school English teacher and an elementary school principal. She has a bachelor’s degree from Quincy University and a master’s degree from Western Illinois University. She is pursuing her doctorate in educational leadership at Western Illinois.
“The reputation of the staff, students, and school community is extremely impressive,” Sullivan-Viniard said. “In light of recent state and federal changes and the increased focus on ensuring that all students are ready to compete in our global society, it is a critical and exciting time in education.”
