Spirito! Singers threw a lively fundraising dinner, complete with performances, emotional speeches and even a puppy. Nearly 220 guests came out for the suburban choral group’s annual gala, Autumn Voices, on Nov. 3 at Drury Lane in Oakbrook Terrace.
The evening saluted the Spirito’s emphasis on service events. Three girls from past and current ensembles spoke of how Spirito has helped them develop both academically and in service to their community. Rob Johnson of WBBM-Channel 2 received the Spirito! Service Award for his work on behalf of people with disabilities.
Guests enjoyed performances by the three choral ensembles: Bravura, comprised of high school girls; Ragazze, girls fifth through eighth grade; and the Men of Spirito for men ages 18 and older.
A wildly popular auction featured a Christmas trip to Rome, a Bears package and a cockapoo puppy, won by a young singer who had been saving her money. The evening netted $30,000 for the group.
Spirito! is a choral organization open to young women in La Grange, Elmhurst, Oak Brook, Hinsdale, Western Springs, Downers Grove and Villa Park. All ensembles are by audition only.
