Among other business June 18, board members:
heard an update on repairs for the floor of the north campus fieldhouse in La Grange, damaged by flooding due to excessive rain in July. Mercury abatement is needed after the substance was detected in a prior floor below the existing floor, which is 12 years old. The mercury doesn’t pose a threat to students, and the floor isn’t considered hazard for tripping or slipping. Summer programs have been relocated while the floor repair is analyzed.
discussed a petition from Hinsdale High School District 86 to withdraw from the La Grange Area Department of Special Education cooperative of 13 elementary and two high school districts. The Riverside-Brookfield Township High School District 208 Board recently denied it, requiring District 86 officials to make a presentation before each member district in Cook County.
